"Sleep On It"...... I think NOT!

Last night (Sunday) after returning from the gym I flipped the TV on and noticed a show I read about in Sundays SF Chronicle as being on. It apparently premiered last Wednesday on the HGTV station. I am talking about the new show called "Sleep On It" where prospective buyers spend a night in a home they are considering making an offer on. I could not believe what I was seeing and could think only of the next open house I hold and having a buyer request to spend a night doing what they do in their normal life. You can rest assured Nancy and I's answer to any request for this lunacy is an absolute NO. What is up with the media portraying this as something to consider.

The first episode showed a husband who had never lite a fire in a fireplace doing so, his wife who was unfamiliar with the kitchen and froze at how to hardboil an egg. After accomplishing both, everyone retreated to the backyard for a barbecue and champagne with friends, remember the fire is still burning in the fireplace supposedly. I figured for sure the damper would have been closed and the home filled with smoke. Either the husband knew a little more than he put on or someone on the production crew knew more than everyone. Still, Yikes! Strangers in your home unfamiliar with emergency tactics. I can only imagine the legal entanglement if for instance that damper was closed as they retreated for a party out back. Or maybe a toilet overflows. In fact I seem to recall the voice over person mentioning something about an issue with either a garbage disposal or dishwasher. Hmm I wonder how that worked itself out? I am sure there are plenty of legal papers generated for the 3 days it takes to generate a show (according to the newspaper). But just imagine how long it could take your home off of the market to clean or clear things up if something serious did happen? Yes I read that a background check is done on the parties involved and haven't we all heard of errors and more so omissions on these only to appear weeks, months or years later?

If your interested in being on this show, Don't call us, thank you. If however you are interested in selling your home in the more conventional manner yes please do call us.

Happy New Year!
